CASHES OBJECTIVES, STRATEGIES AND PERFORMANCE TARGETS 2008

HSE Outlook 2008 Our Health,Safety and Environment (HSE) policy has been broadened to include Security and Community Affairs issues. Hence, HSE policy in Ciscon is now known as Community Affairs, Safety, Health, Environment and Security (CASHES).

Our general and central theme is zero accident,and our objectives are as follows:

"To ensure that all our operations are conducted in such a way that the occupational health, safety and security of all ciscon staff and all other persons who may be affected by our operations, are adequately safeguarded and that proper regard is paid to the protection of the environment."

Community Affairs
Minimise or eliminate the number of community related incidence that may result into operation shut down and support all Ciscon initiatives to improve relationship with host communities.Ciscon takes adherence to the tenets of her community affairs policy statement very seriously.Community issues and agitations will be likened to a piece of machinery that needs to be greased for efficiency. Adequate funds will be made available for community public relatoins.

Safety
Prevent incidents and situations that have the potential to cause injury to personnel and damage to equipment. Conduct training in order to increase the safety awareness level of all personnels as to enable us archieve the ZERO ACCIDENT target.

Health
Protect staff from health hazards associated with our operations. In line with our policy, the annual medical test will be conducted within the year. Also personnel shall be encouraged to undergo the voluntary HIV/AIDS test as we shall also conduct drugs and alcohol test from time to time.We will abide by all regulatory requirements by the government agencies with regard to all legislations.

Environment
Progressively reduce pollution and harm to the environment. We will strive to eliminate and/or progressively reduce spills within the boundaries of our operations. We will also ensure that all systems put in place to monitor the environment are working efficienty and closely monitored to ensure that all our discharges are within the permissible level by the regulatory agency.

Security
Minimise the number of security related incidents for all staff engaged in our operations. We will adequately monitor the security situation in town and discuss with all our clients before any call out. This is to ensure that the lives of our personnel are guaranteed.

Strategies

  • Improve focus on community relations by the continuous involvement of the CASHES Department and HR/Admin Manager in Ciscon.
  • Make courtesy visit to host communities by CLO and CASHES Representatives prior to the commencement of any operation in any community.
  • Provide employment opportunity to the host communities.
  • To continue the Ciscon safety awareness program, integrating the central theme of ZERO ACCIDENT and Tenets of our Operational Excellence into hearts and minds of all personnel.
  • To implement Journey Management procedure more effectively.
  • To continue with the CASHES Manual, information dissemination on various topics to all staff at various safety meetings and utilise the HEMP techniques more effectively for pre-job analysis. Improve the management of CASHES interface between Ciscon and the clients.
  • To manage the unskilled staff workforce efficiency and adopt a more pro-active approach on the reporting of near misses.
  • Hold regular CASHES Meetings and invites our clients to attend.
  • Embark vigoriously on pro-active safety (internal and external) training program for staff, release of safety newsletters, alerts, videos and HSE week activities.
  • Provide industrial welfare facilities.
  • Identify each personnel critical assignment so as to increase his competency level.
  • Monitor staff absence from work due to ill health and the commonest ailment.
  • Ensure that staff operating in areas with a high security risk is fully informed on the company's procedures.
  • Discuss all security related incidents in detail with the contractors information security.
  • Manage information security activities for the departments.
  • Promote information security among staff.
  • Monitor and report information security compliance with Ciscon information security policies, standards and procedures.
